Slow, intentional travel, where discovery and contribution go hand in hand.
Nomad Archipelago was founded with a simple idea—to explore Indonesia differently.
Launched in 2020 by a team with decades of experience sailing these waters, Nomad grew from a deep love for the ocean and a belief that travel should be both respectful and responsible. For us, exploring this remarkable country without care for its communities and ecosystems is not an option.
That’s why we chose the words,
“Explore with Purpose”
A motto that reflects not just how we travel, but why.
Our eco-friendly liveaboards are designed for low-impact cruising. From reduced emissions to considered materials, every detail is shaped by a commitment to sustainability.
Nomad Archipelago is a social enterprise and partnership between Nomad Plastic and Blue Alliance Marine Protected Areas — A proudly reef positive business where 100% of proceeds go directly to the Marine Protected Areas co-managed by Blue Alliance in the Banggai region of Indonesia.
Join a journey shaped by connection to nature, to culture, and to something bigger than the voyage itself.
From your first enquiry to your last day at sea, the people of Nomad Archipelago shape every part of the experience. Our land-based team brings care and clarity to the planning process, and at sea, our crews bring warmth, good humour, and quiet professionalism to every day on board.

Afa has been part of Nomad from the very start, helping launch its first waste management projects and shape its purpose. Today she manages bookings and guest reservations with the same thoughtful care—believing that travel should be meaningful, respectful, and rooted in a commitment to protect the places we explore.
Calm, capable, and always ready with a smile—the Bajau crew are quiet professionals who make every trip feel effortless — They keep things running smoothly while creating a warm, relaxed atmosphere that feels like travelling with friends.

Afa has been with Nomad since the beginning—part of the original crew when the first boat was still being built on the beach. She played a key role in launching Nomad Plastic’s first waste management initiative in Rangko Village, helping lay the foundation for what Nomad would become.
Today, she manages all bookings and guest reservations with the same sense of care and purpose that shaped those early days. Afa brings a quiet commitment to meaningful travel, rooted in the belief that exploring the world should also help protect it.
Welcoming, capable, and quietly confident—our crews are at the heart of every Nomad journey. Whether you’re aboard the Bajau or the Bugis, you’ll be in the hands of people who bring experience, warmth, and a strong sense of place. From preparing dives and guiding snorkels to serving sunset drinks or sharing local stories, they move with the rhythm of the sea and make every guest feel at home.

Nomad Archipelago was brought to life by three individuals whose shared vision for purposeful, low-impact travel through Indonesia is grounded in decades of lived experience—on land, at sea, and across cultures. Together, their experience, passion, and dedication have shaped the Nomad Archipelago experience.
Pierre brings over 30 years of expertise in finance and sustainability, much of it spent in Asia. A long-time visitor to Indonesia, his deep appreciation for the country’s natural beauty and cultural richness laid the foundation for a project rooted in both environmental responsibility and community respect. Pierre is also the founder and Chairman of Nomad Plastic.
Jean-Michel has called Indonesia home for more than two decades. With years spent as a cruise director and scuba diving instructor aboard various liveaboards, he brings a wealth of knowledge about the region’s islands, routes, and maritime culture. His calm presence and depth of local insight guide operations on the ground.
Denis, with a background in mechanical and electrical systems, ensures the seamless functioning of the vessel itself. His experience spans everything from shipyard consultancy to managing his own construction company, and his eye for detail and hands-on approach are vital in maintaining the integrity and reliability of the boat.

Nomad Archipelago’s eco-friendly liveaboards were crafted in a traditional boatbuilding village on the coast of South Sulawesi using time-honoured methods and sustainably sourced ironwood.
Built in collaboration between our founders, local Bugis craftsmen, and naval architect Guillaume Chaussade, the design draws from the region’s sturdy working trawlers—adapted for shallow anchorages, agile navigation, and open water sailing.
With clean lines, a wide deck plan, and a quietly elegant silhouette, the result is a vessel that blends heritage, skill, and sustainability—rooted in place, and built with purpose.
