Sailing through Komodo National Park with Nomad Archipelago is an adventure shaped by nature — a chance to explore wild islands, coral-rich seas, and one of Indonesia’s most iconic marine parks. Reaching this corner of the country is part of the journey.
How to Get to the Komodo Islands
All of our Komodo cruises begin and end in Labuan Bajo, a small harbour town on the island of Flores. Labuan Bajo is served by Komodo International Airport (LBJ), with daily domestic flights from Bali (Denpasar), Jakarta, Lombok, and Makassar.
Once in Labuan Bajo, you’ll step aboard our eco-friendly liveaboard for an unhurried exploration of Komodo’s islands.

Best Time to Visit Komodo National Park
Komodo is beautiful year-round, but seasonal changes shape each journey:
- April to June — Clear waters, colourful reefs, and lush green islands.
- July to September — Peak dry season with excellent visibility and frequent manta ray encounters.
- October to November — Warm, calm seas and fewer visitors.
- December to March — Rainy season; landscapes are at their greenest, though seas can be rougher.

Komodo Weather & Climate
Expect tropical weather with average daily temperatures of 27°C to 32°C. Sea temperatures range from 26°C to 29°C — ideal for long snorkelling sessions. Winds and currents vary by location, contributing to the park’s rich marine life.

Good to Know
- Currency — Indonesian Rupiah (IDR). ATMs are available in Labuan Bajo, but we recommend bringing sufficient cash for small purchases and tips while onshore.
- Electricity — Indonesia uses Type C and F plugs (European two-pin), 230V. Onboard, we provide charging stations for cameras, phones, and devices.
- Connectivity — Mobile signal and Wi-Fi are limited once you leave Labuan Bajo. Expect to be offline for most of your cruise — it’s part of the experience.
- Language — Bahasa Indonesia is the national language, though basic English is widely spoken in Labuan Bajo and onboard.
- Local Time — Indonesia’s East Indonesia Time Zone (WITA), UTC +8 hours.
- Health & Safety — No vaccinations are required for Komodo, but basic travel insurance is recommended. Reef-safe sunscreen is strongly encouraged to protect marine life.
