Small Group Shared Cruises or Private Charters That Take You Off the Beaten Track
Flexible itineraries that favour depth over speed, allowing time to connect with place, people, and the ocean
Explore beyond the reach of mass tourism, with anchorages and itineraries shaped by experience and curiosity
Our off-the-beaten-track approach ensures access to secluded snorkeling sites, adapting to the best conditions.
Set your own pace, dive when and where you want. We take a slow travel approach to diving — no more than four divers per dive and no more than two dives per day.
Kayaks and paddleboards are always onboard for quiet exploration of coves, estuaries, and calm bays
From rainforest treks to pink beaches and volcanic peaks, our land excursions reveal the wild beauty of each island
Visit remote villages and coastal communities, including rare encounters with the sea-faring Bajau
At Nomad Archipelago, our cruises are built around slow travel, exploring Indonesia’s ocean, islands, and culture at an unhurried pace. We go off the beaten track to find remote anchorages, coral reefs, and quiet villages, travelling in small groups for a more personal, immersive experience—whether shared or privately chartered.
We focus on offering a tranquil escape from the pace of modern life, with each element of your journey thoughtfully designed to support a slower, more immersive experience.
While we set a basic itinerary, each cruise remains flexible, giving you the space to engage more deeply with the places, people, and moments that matter most.
For Nomad Archipelago, slow travel means:
Indonesia’s vast archipelago still offers rare opportunities to explore islands and coastlines that remain well beyond the reach of mass tourism. Venturing off the beaten track lies at the heart of our spirit of adventure.
While we visit renowned snorkelling destinations such as Raja Ampat and Komodo, our long experience navigating Indonesia’s waters — since the early 2000s — allows us to approach things differently.
Our travel philosophy means we shape our days to avoid crowds, linger longer in quiet anchorages, and seek out hidden corners that other boats often miss.
Our deep experience lets us guide guests to remote gems like the Banggai Archipelago, where encounters with the Bajau Sea Nomads offer a rare glimpse into ocean-bound life.
Twice a year, our eco liveaboards follow the seasons on Discovery Cruises—voyages that capture our spirit of exploration and reach places far from the tourist trail.

Indonesia sits at the heart of the Coral Triangle and is home to some of the world’s richest marine biodiversity—with over 1,000 species of reef fish, pelagic fish, sharks and rays, marine mammals, reptiles, and hundreds of coral species.
More than 90% of the marine life that inhabits coral reefs can be seen within four metres of the surface, making snorkelling the centrepiece of our ocean experiences. Alongside snorkelling, our boats are equipped with kayaks and paddleboards for slow, quiet exploration of the bays, coves, and estuaries around the islands we visit.
Scuba diving is also an extraordinary way to explore Indonesia’s marine life and is available on private charters.
Or, we simply relax in the crystal-clear shallows or swim off the back of the boat, cooling off with a drink in hand and the ocean all around.
Indonesia’s vast archipelago offers an incredible range of land-based experiences—from rainforest hikes in Raja Ampat in search of the Wilson’s bird of paradise to treks for wild Komodo dragons.
We may climb volcanic limestone peaks for sweeping views, wander forest paths near small villages, or follow quiet tracks through cultivated fields.
And the beaches… whether it’s a sunset barbecue, sunbathing on secluded sands, resting beneath palms, beachcombing, or slipping into the sea to explore a nearby reef, beach time is always a highlight of every journey.
Our voyages bring you to remote islands and offer the chance to meet Indonesia’s vibrant coastal communities. From village visits to cultural encounters with the Bajau, each moment adds depth to the journey.
Our respectful visits include time in local markets, walks through village streets, and conversations that reveal daily life. Whether visiting a school, meeting local craftspeople, or joining a casual football match, these connections reflect the true rhythm of island living.
The Bajau, or “Sea Nomads,” live in stilted villages built above the shallows and depend entirely on the sea. During our Banggai cruises, we travel to their remote waters, where their freediving skills and ocean knowledge offer a rare glimpse into a life shaped by tide and tradition.
Each of our liveaboards has just four cabins and ample shared space across its decks and lounges, creating an intimate and unhurried setting.
Whether shared or privately chartered, our crew of nine delivers seamless service, warm hospitality, and a sense of adventure rooted in care and connection.
Our slow travel ethos not only deepens your relationship with the places you visit—it also creates space for meaningful connection with each other.
Each of our destinations offers a chance to slow down, connect with coastal cultures, and experience the ocean in its most vivid form. From manta rays and mangroves to village visits and limestone peaks, we choose to explore places that offer immersion over itinerary—remote, wild corners of Indonesia that reward curiosity, patience, and the quiet joy of discovering what lies beyond the map.
