Sailing through Raja Ampat with Nomad Archipelago is an adventure into one of the most biodiverse marine regions on Earth. Scattered across Indonesia’s West Papua province, these jungle-cloaked islands, turquoise lagoons, and coral-rich reefs offer a true escape into nature. Reaching this remote paradise is part of the experience.
How to Get to Raja Ampat
All of our Raja Ampat cruises begin and end in Sorong, the main gateway to the archipelago. Sorong’s Domine Eduard Osok Airport (SOQ) receives daily domestic flights from Jakarta, Makassar, and Manado, and regular connections from Bali (Denpasar).
From Sorong, you’ll step aboard our eco-friendly liveaboard for an unhurried journey into the heart of the islands, leaving the bustle of the mainland behind.

Best Time to Visit Raja Ampat
Raja Ampat is a year-round destination, but certain seasons bring different highlights:
- October to April — Peak diving and snorkelling season with calm seas, clear waters, and excellent visibility.
- May to September — Windier months with occasional swells; ideal for fewer boats and lush, green islands.
- Marine life thrives throughout the year, from manta rays to reef sharks and swirling schools of fish.

Raja Ampat Weather & Climate
Expect tropical, humid weather with daily temperatures averaging 27°C to 32°C. Sea temperatures remain warm, between 28°C and 30°C, perfect for long snorkelling and diving sessions.
Raja Ampat lies outside Indonesia’s main cyclone paths, but rainfall can occur at any time, with the heaviest showers usually between June and August.
